Climate anxiety turned climate action.

Hey y’all! I’m Angie Fitzpatrick, owner and operator of Bad Apple Compost LLC, a curbside compost service in Toledo, Ohio. I’m a backyard composter, gardener and chicken keeper committed to building climate resilient communities through sustainable practices such as composting.

Climate change and social justice issues are close to my heart, particularly food waste. I’ve spent the last 20 years in higher education, working on social justice issues as an advocate and educator. Like so many others, in 2020 I began devoting more energy to gardening, and in turn became more invested in composting. Over time, I saw the fruits of my labor in the abundance of plants and wildlife in my backyard. I’ve come to realize that I’m at my best when I am outside, working with the earth and connecting with other regenerative growers and landscapers.

Launching Bad Apple Compost is my way of turning climate anxiety into climate action by working with my neighbors to minimize food waste and restore our soil. A community organizer and revolutionary at heart, I believe we have the power to build the world we need.
